Trail riding has been a staple in the Black horse community for several decades. The culture of fellowship and family fun attracts participants all over the East coast. The global pandemic has had a profound effect on the ability of these gatherings to occur, until now.
Young Black Equestrians in partnership with the Black Equestrian Network is hosting the first virtual trail ride, OG Festival: A Virtual Trail Ride Experience.
OG Festival is an annual trail ride that started in the 1970s by horsemen Donal Gooch and Otis Bumpers. Brothers in the saddle, these two men alternate hosting OG Festival in Wendell, North Carolina. This year, we are excited to hold this event virtually September 11th -13th, 2020. It is our greatest attempt to safely recreate the fellowship and fun the horse community is known for, with a series of workshops, classes, contests, and more.
